It is prepared by the Finance (Budget) Directorate of Railway Board and presented along with other budget documents in Parliament every year. Work-wise Allocation




The work-wise allocation shows how much money is allocated for each category of works or projects undertaken by Indian Railways. There are 12 categories of works or projects in the Pink Book, such as:

  • Gauge Conversion

  • Signalling and Telecommunication



  • Track Renewals



  • Bridge Works



  • Rolling Stock



  • Machinery and Plant



  • Passenger Amenities

The work-wise allocation also shows the name, location, length, cost, target date, and physical progress of each work or project under each category.
